In the context of the official visit, the Special Rapporteur will seek to:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Assess progress, challenges, and good practices in the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP);<\/li>\n<li>Examine the legal, policy, and institutional frameworks affecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Australia;<\/li>\n<li>Engage directly with the Government, Indigenous Peoples and their representative institutions, civil society organisations, national human rights institution, and other relevant stakeholders;<\/li>\n<li>Formulate constructive and practical recommendations aimed at strengthening the protection and realization of Indigenous Peoples\u2019 rights in Australia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key questions and types of input\/comments sought<\/h3>\n<p>In accordance with established practice of mandate-holders, the Special Rapporteur welcomes <strong>written submissions<\/strong> from Indigenous Peoples, their representative organisations and institutions, civil society organisations, academics, national human rights institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions may address, inter alia:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Legal, Policy, and Institutional Frameworks<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Constitutional, legislative, and policy frameworks relevant to the rights of Indigenous Peoples;<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of UNDRIP at the federal, state, and territory levels;<\/li>\n<li>Mechanisms for Indigenous participation in decision-making, including representative bodies and consultation processes;<\/li>\n<li>Access to justice, remedies, and accountability mechanisms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Main Human Rights issues<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Land, territories, and resources, including land rights, native title, and other related issues<\/li>\n<li>Self-determination, Indigenous governance, and autonomy<\/li>\n<li>Economic, social and cultural rights, including health, education, housing, employment and protection of cultural heritage<\/li>\n<li>Impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and disaster response<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous women and girls<\/li>\n<li>Child welfare systems<\/li>\n<li>Access to justice and incarceration<\/li>\n<li>Business and human rights<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous persons with disabilities<\/li>\n<li>Preservation of Indigenous languages, cultures, and knowledge systems<\/li>\n<li>Any other relevant information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. Good Practices and Lessons Learned<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Community-led initiatives, programmes, or policies that have contributed positively to the realization of Indigenous Peoples\u2019 rights<\/li>\n<li>Models of partnership, co\u2011design, or shared decision\u2011making between Indigenous Peoples and authorities<\/li>\n<li>Examples of reconciliation, redress, truth-telling, or healing processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. Visit Planning and Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Suggestions on <strong>specific issues or thematic areas<\/strong> the Special Rapporteur should examine during the visit<\/li>\n<li><strong>Suggestions on locations, Indigenous communities, or states\/territories <\/strong>the Special Rapporteur should consider visiting<\/li>\n<li>Contact details for <strong>Indigenous organisations, community leaders, and other representatives<\/strong> the Special Rapporteur may wish to meet, including at the local, state and territory and federal levels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Submissions may include <strong>recent analytical reports, research studies, surveys, or monitoring data<\/strong>, as well as first-hand accounts and perspectives.<\/p>\n<h3>How inputs will be used?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Confidentiality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your responses will be kept confidential.
